Présentation - Dr Osman Benchikh

Fabrice DidierOsman Benchikh is Doctor in Physics, graduated at the French “Ecole Supérieur de Physique et Chimie de Paris”. Dr Osman Benchikh is actually head of the energy and renewable energy Programme at UNESCO.

Dr Benchikh is author of several books and publications on renewable energies and launched several international programmes and initiatives related to the use and application of renewable energy sources and achievement of the Sustainable Development targets. He initiated and implemented the UNESCO’s ongoing Global Renewable Energy Education and Training (GREET) Programme and published various related learning/teaching materials and educational tools. Dr. Benchikh has also launched several concepts aiming at promoting wider the renewable energy sources such as the setting of regional solar councils and the annual summer school on solar energy. He is member of UN Energy and represents UNESCO therein. Dr Benchikh chaired the Commission on renewable energies at the Francophone Academy of Engineers and the European working group on education in renewable energy.
